![]() ![]() I spent a fortune on the four Drobo products I own only to be nickel and dimed if I want support. ![]() ![]() I keep thinking each update will fix this, but nope! I hate not being able to mange my 5N but there’s nothing I can do until (unless?) Drobo chooses to fix their problem. Why would I do that? The unit is fine, it’s Dashboard that’s not working properly and apparently Drobo doesn’t give a damn or this would be fixed. As it is, the only app I have that can’t make use of the 5N or what’s on it is Drobo Dashboard itself.Īs a retired IT guy, I too am sure the problem is Dashboard itself, but Drobo won’t do anything without paying for support to fix the problem they created. It appears my mounted 5N isn’t there as far as Dashboard is concerned. Manually adding my 5N didn’t work either, and Dashboard can’t see it even if I directly connect it to my Mac Pro. Doing everything I’ve read to remedy the problem made no difference. I’m not sure what update broke this basic function, but all of sudden, Dashboard became network blind a couple of months ago. My 5N works perfectly too, but Dashboard can no longer see it. Let’s see if they have anything to say or if they’ll support 2-year-old hardware. I haven’t decided to migrate to a better-supported NAS platform but I am working up to it. I’ve moved all my data over to my Drobo 5D as a safety measure (if the 5N has any problem, I cannot access it to fix it). It is frozen in time but not quite a brick…yet. because the only way to manage their proprietary firmware and operating system is through their proprietary Dashboard app and it won’t recognize or connect to my Drobo 5N. I can not create or delete volumes, change access control, update the firmware, etc. My Drobo 5N is only a couple of years old so they should still be supporting it.Ĭlearly, their Dashboard app is the problem: my 5N is sharing files, I can ssh into it-everything is working fine. I hope that this community will press Drobo into fixing this issue.Īfter nearly a month of trying - maybe they will acknowledge the bug, and step-up and support their customers. ![]() This is BEYOND active warranty and support - this is RELEASE software killing working units. The search hangs with the spinning icon in the Status column of the search however is clearly a larger problem, with the v3.0.0 Dashboard bricking active in service units in the field. P.S.: I just tried Manual Drobo Discovery for the assigned static IP. Mac Pro 2013 3.5 GHz 6-core Intel Xenon E5, 48GB VRAM Is it possible to manage the Drobo 5N via ssh and the command line? I cannot run the Windows version natively as my PC is in mid-upgrade to a new case and water cooling and so out of service at the moment. I tried to Drobo Dashboard in a Windows 10 VM via VM Fusion 8 Pro, but network shares aren’t visible (probably a VMware/Windows issue with a sharing setting I’ll have to try to resolve separately) so of course that version of Dashboard found nothing. I saved the admin id and password via LastPass so it should be correct but login via ssh is rejected.Īnd of course, I can not verify or change anything because Dashboard can not connect. Unfortunately, ssh as admin fails even though I believe the password correct. I just can not manage it anymore which is vexing to say the least. I assigned it a static IP address outside my DHCP range and it connects to the network normally, it is visible as a share on the network, all shared volumes mount and are accessible by authorized users, I can see it through my web-based router tools with the correct IP, and I can even SSH into it as a user. I uninstalled Dashboard and re-installed and it still fails. The latest version of Dashboard, Version 3.0.0, cannot find my Drobo 5N.ĭashboard finds the Drobo 5D I have attached via thunderbolt easily. ![]()
